The saga continues
Vesper sock yarn, Marmalade colorway
A finished project! Actually, these socks have been finished for a while now, my first really well-fitting pair, thanks to Carole's recipe for a plain vanilla sock. It has my favorite picot edge, which you'll just have to imagine since I've no time for lengthy photo shoots today. I wish I could tell you about my ongoing projects but the last couple of weeks have left me wrung out like a dishrag and frankly, I haven't had the inclination to do anything but stare at the TV and/or leaf through magazines when I've plopped myself down at night.
To explain my absence, it's been all *house-house-blah-blah-blah* around here lately. We have agreed on a sales contract yet one unresolved issue remains. Yesterday the buyers requested that we be out of the house by June 4. That's two weeks, people! (And we have longstanding plans to be away for the holiday weekend.)
We were in Chicago last weekend for a business function and managed to squeeze in some househunting. After a year of searching, we were thrilled to find exactly what we've been looking for, right where we were hoping to find it! What are the odds of that?!! We put in an offer on Monday, they countered yesterday and we responded in the afternoon. Our realtor expected to have the deal made before we left for the weekend so when her name popped up on caller ID, I wasn't expecting to hear that (oops!) the sellers changed their minds, they're taking their house (my house!!) off the market. Apparently they had put it up for sale when they found their dream house and it sold before they could put in an offer.
A moment of silence....................followed by a loud scream! Caution...don't venture into this current real estate market unless you have to. It'll rip your heart out.
So, to sum up, today I'm packing to leave on a 5 day vacation, returning to several days of pulling aside anything I might need for an indefinite stay in a city apartment before the movers come to pack up my lifelong belongings to sit in a warehouse until we find an acceptable house. That is, if we can negotiate the one, unresolved issue on our current house contract. Have a great weekend! I'll be grinding my teeth away but otherwise enjoying myself on Maryland's Eastern Shore.
